Nevill Ground and Upper Cricket Ground

The main open spaces in the area are the Nevill Ground and Upper Cricket Ground.  The grounds are used throughout the year for cricket and hockey matches with a regular programme of events on the Tunbridge Wells Cricket Club website.

Many residents take their dogs for walks on these spaces, but please make sure you abide by the rules and keep them on a lead at all times. WPARA successfully campaigned against a Tunbridge Wells Borough Public Consultation to ban dogs in 2021.  Unfortunately, a small minority of dog walkers don’t comply with the rules.  All it takes is someone to take a photo on their phone of dogs off the lead and forward it to the council and we will end up with a total ban.  So please respect the rules.  If you wish to let your dog off the lead please go to Farmcombe Open Space – just a two minute walk away (Turn right at top of Upper Cumberland Walk).

Farmcombe Open Space

Although strictly not in the WPARA boundary this park is only a short walk away with easy access either from Farmcombe Road or Delves Avenue in the Banner Farm Estate. Here you can let your pooch off the lead and it’s a great place for dogs to socialise safely with each other in an area fenced off from the road.  Owned by the Fields Trust it is protected land for the use of the community.

Community Policing

As a Police Community Support Officer, my role is to be provide visible presence to the community, engage with local businesses, provide re-assurance to people who may be victims of crime and support people who maybe struggling with their well-being.

During my time in the Warwick Park area, I have carried out a lot of foot patrols and engaged with some of the residents so you may have seen me about.  If you do, please don’t hesitate to stop for a chat as it’s good to get to know the residents. Last spring and summer I spent a couple of hours of my shift at the Nevill Ground during cricket matches where I was able to talk to local school teams and club players. I’ve also spent time engaging with victims of burglaries and suggesting crime prevention methods that can be used to deter criminals in the future In future I am looking to carry out some speed checks on the roads within the area and to make sure people are driving safely.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my first 18 months as the local PCSO for Warwick Park and I look forward to seeing what the future brings.
