Open Spaces
Nevill Ground and Upper Cricket Ground
The main open spaces in the area are the Nevill Ground and Upper Cricket Ground. The grounds are used throughout the year for cricket and hockey matches with a regular programme of events on the Tunbridge Wells Cricket Club website.
Many residents take their dogs for walks on these spaces, but please make sure you abide by the rules and keep them on a lead at all times. WPARA successfully campaigned against a Tunbridge Wells Borough Public Consultation to ban dogs in 2021. Unfortunately, a small minority of dog walker don’t comply with the rules. All it takes is someone to take a photo on their phone of dogs off the lead and forward it to the council and we will end up with a total ban. So please respect the rules. If you wish to let your dog off the lead please go to Farmcombe Open Space – a two minute walk away (Turn right at top of Upper Cumberland Walk).
Farmcombe Open Space
Although strictly not in the WPARA boundary this park is only a short walk away with easy access either from Farmcombe Road or Delves Avenue in the Banner Farm Estate. Here you can let your pooch off the lead and it’s a great place for dogs to socialise safely with each other in an area fenced off from the road. Owned by the Fields Trust it is protected land for the use of the community.
