Richmond Place border with Warwick Park

Those of you who venture further up Warwick Park towards the Nevill Cricket Ground will have noticed there has been some clearance and tree felling close to the entrance of Richmond Place.  This is all part of a woodland restoration project that is underway by the residents of Richmond Place.

The development has approximately one acre of surrounding woodland and the section abutting Warwick Park has been neglected for more than 40 years.  The residents acquired the land in 2020 and begun a process of restoration in 2021.  There is considerable infestation with laurel and other household plants, but the area is slowly being cleared.

Importantly the pavement edge has now been freed of trees and the stumps have been ground out.  During the rest of the year a metal estate fence will be installed and we have also had meetings with Kent County Council about restoring the pavements.  The team at Kent County Council couldn’t have been more helpful.  They came out to see us and were very enthusiastic about the work that’s been done and keen to get the pavement fixed.

The initial phase in July this year will be the removal of some tree roots and fixing of the worst parts of the pavement with a view to a full relaying in the future.  We will update you as soon as we know more.
